IMPORTANT MESSAGE ABOUT TAMA 2009 FINANCIALS

Dear TAMA Members,

According to the TAMA Constitution and Bylaws, outgoing Executive Committee shall provide appropriate records for financial audits; transfer all records, documents and accounts to the incoming Executive Committee within five days after the end of their term.

TAMA current Executive Committee sent multiple emails and made several phone calls to Dr. T Satyanarayana Reddy (President-2009) and Mr. Girish Meka (Treasurer-2009) but they are not coming forward to reconcile TAMA financial information and accounts for the year 2009. Though we have appointed an audit committee comprising of Mr. Surendar Reddy Mutyala, Mr. Paddy Rao and Mrs. Sheela Lingam to ensure financial stability and transparency, we are unable to provide them financial records for the year 2009. Also, due to lack of cooperation from the 2009 Executive Committee, tax filing for the year 2009 is also delayed.

In order to safeguard TAMA credibility with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the current executive committee has stepped in to procure TAMA 2009 financial statements from the bank and is in the process of filing taxes for the year 2009.

The 2009 Executive Committee owes members of TAMA and 2010 Executive Committee, an accountability of TAMA 2009 financial information and accounts including:

1. Closing information about 2009 bank accounts (Checks belonging to TAMA members were bounced).

2. Closing of Credit card information (Past Treasurer Adi Chintama was penalized due to the actions of 2009 Executive Committee).

3. There is no documentary evidence for distribution of Payments amounting to $43,248.70 to Suresh Penchala’s family with out concrete financial evidence.

4. Loss of $5000 deposit to Centre Stage, Atlanta.

The financial information that will be used to file taxes year 2009 will be provided to TAMA audit committee. As office bearers of TAMA for 2010, it’s our responsibility to apprise our members concerning 2009 TAMA financials.

Sincerely,

TAMA 2010 Executive Committee

False Allegations by EC TAMA 2010 on TAMA 2009 Financials
28th October 2010

Dear beloved TAMA member,

Here are the facts to the false allegations made by TAMA EC 2010 targeting TAMA EC 2009 in particular Dr.Satyanarayana Reddy Tangirala and Gireesh Reddy Meka.

"According to the TAMA Constitution and Bylaws, outgoing Executive Committee shall provide appropriate records for financial audits; transfer all records, documents and accounts to the incoming Executive Committee within five days after the end of their term."

Our response:
As per Article IV.2 of TAMA bylaw
He/she shall perform such other duties and exercise such other powers incident to the office of Treasurer by law. He/she shall file tax returns with the Internal Revenue Service for the year in office and provide appropriate records for financial audits. He/she shall transfer all records, documents, and accounts to the incoming Treasurer within five days after the end of his/her term.
Outgoing TAMA EC 2009 handed over all the documents, assets, on January 1st 2010 to the incoming EC at Sai Murali restaurant and Handed over all the bank transactions, Credit card login information of Authorize.net on January 5th 2010 with all the necessary instructions to the incoming Treasurer and the President which clearly proves that the outgoing EC provided the appropriate records within five days.

"TAMA current Executive Committee sent multiple emails and made several phone calls to Dr. T Satyanarayana Reddy (President-2009) and Mr. Girish Meka (Treasurer-2009) but they are not coming forward to reconcile TAMA financial information and accounts for the year 2009."

Our response:
It is only through that email we came to know that they sent several emails and phone call to both of us. Why was the new EC kept silent for this long and now apparently decided to blame the 2009 EC for everything without giving us a chance to clarify the issues to the incoming EC. Except for Mahesh Pawar's phone call which we answered and explained the facts we have not received any other phone call or email from any office bearers of EC 2010. Here is the call response and as a resultant action item, Mahesh Pawar conveyed the message to the EC 2010 by an email......

Here is the email sent by Mahesh to TAMA EC member
I spoke to Satyanarayan and Girish regarding this and found that the file is with CPA, once it is done they are ready to file the taxes. It may take a week or two. So, I suggest we wait on this email thing.
Thank you
Mahesh
We are in the process of completing the Tax filing for the year 2009 and all the invoices, receipts and Bank statements are with the CPA who is providing free services to TAMA 2009. We shall submit the Returns statement once the filing is completed. This may take not more than a week.
So far all the years of TAMA's existence, the President or Treasurer for the year in the office filed taxes. Except the year 2008, neither the Treasurer nor the President of TAMA 2008 cared to file the taxes when they were in the office. Dr. Satyanatayana Reddy Tangirala had taken up the task and filed the taxes for the year 2008 for which we paid $800.00 as filing charges.

1. Closing information about 2009 bank accounts (Checks belonging to TAMA members were bounced).
Our response:
The checks are issued to individuals towards expenses reimbursement. As part of the account transfer procedure to the new EC, we closed the operating account on 31-DEC-2009. Any checks deposited after this date will obviously get bounced. It came to our notice that the only check issued to Mr.Ramakanth Rapalli towards election stationary expenses was bounced because the check was deposited by him after 31-DEC-2009. We referred this issue to the new committee and Mr. Rallapalli got paid by TAMA 2010 EC.

TSR & Girish - 2 said...

2. Closing of Credit card information (Past Treasurer Adi Chintama was penalized due to the actions of 2009 Executive Committee).
Our response:
In the process of accounts hand over to the new EC, the Credit Card operating account was closed on 31-DEC-2009 and a new account was opened by TAMA 2010 EC. We had a vendor called Authorize.net which we use it for our online transactions. The service charge was to the vendor was set up as a bill payer and all the instructions including the User ID and Password to the Credit card account was given to Mr. Aluwal Reddy Treasurer 2010. It was his (Or TAMA 2010 President's) responsibility to update the automatic bill payment to the vendor, failing which the vendor charges fines and even can send a collection notice to the person under whose name it was registered. In this case Mr. Adi Chinnatimmareddy was penalized.
This shows sheer negligence and non-commitment of the Treasurer of TAMA EC 2010, towards the fag end of the year they are conveniently blaming TAMA 2009 EC. Why did it take this long for them to bring it up? If anything of this sort was brought to our notice, we will be more than happy to address this.

3. There is no documentary evidence for distribution of Payments amounting to $43,248.70 to Suresh Penchala's family without concrete financial evidence.
Our Response:

There were three payments made to the service providers of Suresh Penchala. KIMS of Hyderabad and Live-in corporate suites with all the necessary invoices. This was also presented at both GBM's (Deewali and election day 2009) and accounts were ratified in the presence of all the members and parliamentarian. We also posted the Financials/ Account details on TAMA website till the end of our term. All these three payments were through the bank and the Outgoing EC clearly provided these details to the incoming TAMA 2010 EC. One Payment by the bank check to KIMS, second payment was a wire transfer to KIMS and the third payment was also a wire transfer to Live-in Corporate suites.
We have all the invoices and receipts regarding these payments.
Paid By Check $80,000.00
Wire Transfer $30,000.00
Wire Transfer $25,000.00
Service Fee $110.00
Total $135,110.00

Opening Balance As of 1-JAN-2009 $194,611.29

Remaining Funds As of 31-DEC-2009 $59,501.29

The remaining funds were handed over to the incoming EC within 5 days of completion of the term.
Ramesh who is brother of Mr. Suresh Penchala repeatedly called TAMA EC 2010 requesting for the funds while TAMA EC 2010 turned a deaf ear to him.
Outgoing TAMA EC 2009 provided detailed information on this to incoming TAMA EC 2010; This is taking us in a maze that how they are oblivion to the facts when they promised TAMA members that would do a better job than the other contesting panel.
We have been always more than willing to prove the facts with all the documents and invoices.

This is the last email we received from Ramesh Penchala before we left the office
From: Ramesh penchala
Date: Fri, Dec 18, 2009 at 10:43 PM
Subject: Fwd: Receipts for payment-Suresh Penchala

4. Loss of $5000 deposit to Centre Stage, Atlanta.
Our response:
Mr. Purna Veerapaneni (Active TAMA member and strong supporter of EC 2010 panel) and Mr.Thotakura Prasad (President of TANA) requested TAMA EC 2009 to organize the Super Singer Program in Atlanta as anyway the troop was coming for TANA 2009 event. In order to book the Venue in advance we had to sign the contract with Center Stage and make a non-refundable advance of $5,000.00 and started making all the preparations for the event. Later due to the visa restrictions on the super singers, they were restricted to perform any stage shows (including at the TANA event) and subsequently we had to cancel the program. As the payment made to the Center Stage was nonrefundable in nature they refused to return the advance we paid. We tried to influence and convince them in various means and ways to get back the venue payment which turned out into a futile effort as they were all the time pointing to the signed contract with Center Stage.
"The financial information that will be used to file taxes year 2009 will be provided to TAMA audit committee. As office bearers of TAMA for 2010, it's our responsibility to apprise our members concerning 2009 TAMA financials."
Our response:
Please don't bring audit committee into picture as that committee is appointed to audit 2010 financial records, rather than past committees. It is 2009 treasurer's responsibility to safeguard the receipts of 2009, and responsible to reproduce it to IRS in case of an audit. If we had to transfer all the receipts to you, we would have got 28 years of receipts from previous EC and we would have transferred 29 years of documentation to EC 2010.

All the allegations they made on TAMA EC 2009 are false and baseless. It appears that it is just misrepresentation of facts, misuse of their power and the media like TAMA web site, TAMA members' email list to broadcast false allegations and defame TAMA EC 2009. They are playing blame game to cover their negligence in discharging their duties to TAMA members.

Sincerely,
Dr.Satyanarayana Reddy Tangirala (President TAMA EC 2009)
Gireesh Reddy Meka (Treasurer TAMA EC 2009)

Hello EC 2010 committe

Please find the detailed explanation (in the first 4 comments) by previous committe for the false propogonda you are trying to create on them.

I have simple question as it was also raised by previous committe is that why you are kept silent for nearly 8 months when all the documents to be handed over to you by Jan 2010 itself?

After all it is a non profit organization from which no body expect to benifit, in that case if you can't talk to fellow telugu committe ( TAMA EC 2009) properly and get the required documents then what for you got elected?

If you have really contacted them so many times why can't you forward all those emails to all TAMA members?

We see TAMA EC 2010 committe neglegance in all the points you mentioned to blame the previous committe.

Please explain your stand to all the members behind this false allegations you are trying to make.

And last but not the least if you see some descrepancy, and you can't sort out then you can call for election new committe

And do not think that since you got elected, all the TAMA members nod their head whatever you say.

Yours sincerely

Shame on you guys. When you are incapable of running an organization why do you contest for elections.Every time one or two guys resign from the positions are you not responsible to explain to the general public why they resign? At the expense of the telugu comunity you are playing politics. This is not good for the comunity.

EC 2010 there are 2 people associated with EC09 working in your team, cant you get the information what happend in 2009?Are you not considering them your team members? Are you guys not willing to do that?Or Is the EC2010 team a bunch of baffons or shikandi's?Just keeping you in the front some one else is running TAMA?If you have any decency please take your politics some where else. The general telugu comunity doesnt have to take this anymore. Are your family and kids accepting this dirty politics.Talk to your kids if they really like and accept what you are doing. Now a days where ever 2 telugu people meet thaty are talking this and felling sorry that we have to deal with this kind of dirty comunity politics. Please please take it somewhere else.

Telugu comunity, since we are clear these fellows are playing politics at the expense of the comunity Please

1)Dont take up memberships or renuew your memberships in these organizations.Dont get sold to these fellows who pay for the memberships.Or provide gift cards.
2)Take your kids to Balvihar or some other organization where there is no politics and kids can learn.
3)Form your own family and friends groups with like minded close families and friends where you dont have to deal with this filth.

EC 2010 ignited the unification of 'R' community with stupid allegations:

2010 EC is going out of power in few months and have no clue how to sort out the accounts. The elected Treasurer resigned long time ago (not many members knew this, EC didn't care to announce replacement, who is TAMA treasurer?). They have no clue how to settle the accounts by the year end so started the blame game.
Stupid decisions by either community ignited the unity of the other community in both 2008 and 2009. Did the EC 2010 started the ignition to re-unite the 'R' community by stupid allegations? I call it stupid because even if the EC 2009 did some thing wrong they should drag them to court, for no response or no support but not to send a open email to public. They can be sued for the personal allegations.
Since most of the EC 2009 are leaning towards GATA would they use this opportunity to divert the support to new org or try to recalim TAMA? BTW...last date for nominations is Nov 5th.

Yours,
TAMAwala

Guys no one is perfect and we all do mistakes.EC 2010 is not born to Buddha's cock so that they can claim that they are very perfect. For that matter EC 2010 didnt do anything new this year.EC 2010 you copied the "Palleku Podaam" program which was started by EC2009.If there are any mistakes by 2009 EC they might not have intentionally done.If you think they paid the $5000 non-refundable advance,go and check with that company if their policy is not correct or not.Why blame TRS or Girish,no one will just do it to lose money.Check with Poorna or Prasad T if they requested them to conduct the program or not.

Please stop this stupid, dirty politics.EC 2010 you waited for one year and at the end of the year you are staring this financials issue. Is this correct. If you havent checked this throughout the yer that means you didnt do any thing for one year, just sleeping.Just go and ask your wives if these stupid politics you are trying to do is correct. She will not allow you to climd on top of her.Stop your stupid politics you fellows.

I dont see why there cannot be another or multiple telugu organizations. When you go to the TAMA program there is not even place to sit, because the comunity has grown so much we cannot accomadate so amny people. There 40 programs in an event and who has time to see all?? As long as these organizations dont work on the basis of caste there can be any number of organizations. We can accept a prostitute who sells her body for food or livelyhood. But we cannot pardon fellows who play cast ,creed or religion cards.I am in USA for the past 15 years no one opposed my opportunities just because i am from another country. Please dont bring the caste into this society.Long back the Bramhins divided the Indian society and all these R,K etc castes were s**king their c***,so please dont do it in USA in this computer age.

Let us live without all these casts.

Most people in the comunity feel that the answers from TSR and Girish are reasonable and trustworthy. As many mentioned there might have been mistakes done by EC 09 and aftreall in our own houses we do some thing and it turnsout to be something else. When running an organization there could be some mistakes.Unless some one puposefully done some thing wrong. But here in the issues raised by EC 10 there seems not much ground.

Since Mr.Poorna was the one requested/proposed the super singer program he should come out and reveal the facts and mention what happend and why it was cancelled. --- TSR and Girish you should make Poorna speakout and tell the truth to prove your point.

Regarding the $5000 deposit from Center Stage, they will sure give a written letter why they cannot return the deposit and you can give it to whoever has a doubt.Or if some one is interested to get the info can call center stage and ask them what happens to the deposit if we deside to cancel the program.

Points to note:When running an organization keep proper documentation.Dont just go by word of mouth.Dont blindly trust anyone.

Anonymous said...

EC 2010 was very reasonable in giving too much time for EC 2009 to pass the details to file taxes or to let them know if EC 2009 will file the taxes them selves.EC2009 till now did not file the taxes. If they have all the receipts then why did they wait for 10 months with out filing and also they are saying that they were not contacted by EC 2010.If EC 2010 shows proofs that they tried to contacted them as mentioned then EC 2009 will be culprits and community will know writing paragraphs in English cannot manipulate the facts. If EC2010 cannot show the proofs then we can term that they did false allegations. Also EC 2009 should still answer the community why did they close the accounts whether it is suresh penchala's or other accounts?.Also spending $5000 for center stage is understandable that they did not misuse the funds and they cannot do anything if it is not refunded but we could clearly see that they violated the bylaws again by giving check for $5000 with out GBM approval. The 2009 bylaws clearly shows that any amount =>$5000 needs GBM approval.
So EC 2009,You cannot escape the acts that you did in your tenure.Don't think that people beleived you.Just writing pages in the email will not do good,Community needs to know the truth and will stand by truth.
