Subject: TAMA Executive Committee 2009 - Likely team
To: tama25th@yahoogroups.com
For nearly 27 years the Telugu Association of Metro Atlanta (TAMA) has been a medium for unity within the Telugu community in Atlanta and neighboring areas. Over the years TAMA has evolved from its primary function as a social organization to active involvement in community service. For the past few years we have initiated various community service projects, most notably the TAMA Scholarship Program and the Telugu at Emory Initiative. Our scholarship program has proved to be highly successful and several Telugu Associations across North America have modeled similar programs after TAMA. Emory University in Atlanta has a large language studies program that does not presently include Telugu culture studies. So far we have raised $100,000 and need to raise equal amount to support a Telugu faculty for five years. We are also in the process of getting the support from AP government. Besides these community service projects, we are hosting numerous social programs every year such as the cultural programs that take place on Hindu religious holidays, sahitisadassu and the TAMA Tennis Tournament etc,. Our organization that has not only managed to grow exponentially, but in recent years it has been able to make a great difference in the Telugu-American community due to our unity and integrity.
For the year 2009 very vibrant and a promising team is formed. We need your blessings and with your kind support I would like to inform you all the likely team.
